Celtic Woman

I was able to get a good deal on tickets for Celtic
Woman and the concert did not disappoint. The music,
the voices, and the amazing Máiréad
Nesbitt. The woman is beyond compare with her
talents. Albeit there are a number of fiddle players
that are just as good or even better. However, it takes
more than just talent, you have to have the passion and
that she does.

That's one person I would love to photograph given the chance and settings. Not to mention The Celtic Woman Concerts.
The venue that I saw the concert at was the Paramount Theatre in Oakland. A wonderfully restored 1931 Art Deco Theatre. I have had the opportunity to photograph in the theatre before, including backstage with the Oakland Athletics. I still need to hone my skills for interior shots, however with the new lenses it makes things much easier.
The stage that was set wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. Even though it is a small venue (and I think that's wonderful), it may have been developed a little bit better (yes the designer in me is coming out). But I also understand the constraints of the set, designers and the set coordinators (who actually do the work), that nothing comes out the way it should be and sometimes you have to make compromises.
If you do get the chance to see this concert or any of the Celtic Woman singers and instrumentalists ... do, because this is a show for those that enjoy music and watching those that have a passion for their craft!
